How we use your personal data in detail

What personal information we collect

We collect two types of information from users of this Website:

-       Information You Give Us: we receive and store any information you enter on our website or give us in any other way. You can choose not to provide certain information but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our features. We use the information that you provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customising future shopping for you, improving our stores, and communicating with you.

-       Automatic Information: we receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many websites, we use "cookies" and we obtain certain types of information when your web browser accesses our sites or advertisements and other content served by or on behalf of us on other websites.

Data we collect is used to set up your customer record and despatch orders. This will enable us to comply with our legal and regulatory requirements and look at ways we can continue to improve our products and services. We will not collect any personal data from you that we do not need.

We use your personal data to verify your identity where we are required to do so by law. In order to do this, we may need to share some or all of your data with third parties, which may include fraud prevention, anti-money laundering and credit reference agencies (whose details we can share with you on request), law enforcement departments, regulators, government departments (e.g. Revenue, HMRC) and the providers of our sales or servicing platforms.

We will communicate with you about your products and provide service-related updates and notifications. Where possible we will communicate with you via email, however there may be times where regulation requires us to contact you in a specific way.

We may use your information for marketing purposes, however we will only do this where you have specifically opted to have us do so.

We will use your information to comply with the law, in order to protect ourselves, our customers, or others. Where required we will share information to respond to a court order or other lawful request from a public authority.

We will use your data to complete troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, and for statistical and survey purposes.

What we do with the Information we collect

The personal information you provide on the Website will be used for the following purposes:

  • To process your order; the name and address(es) provided will be used to deliver the Gift Cards.

  • By our payment processor; we outsource the payment authorisation process to a company that is an expert in that field and has high levels of security.  These companies may transfer your personal data outside of the EEA, to help them process the payment request. (Please note that we have entered into an agreement with the processor to ensure that any personal data transferred outside of the EEA, is subject to controls that provide the same level of protection as we are required to give to personal data in the EU);

  • To notify you around the anniversary of an order that you previously placed that you may want to repeat the order;

  • To ensure that content from our Website is presented in the most effective manner for devices (phone, computer, tablet); and

  • To notify you about changes to our services.

How long will you keep personal data?

We will hold your data for no more than 6 years. The period will be determined by the types of products and services you have purchased form us and only hold the information as long as necessary to provide those or are in line with our legal requirements to retain such data.

If you have registered for an account and have not used it in the last two years, then your account will be classed as dormant and will be deleted in line with our privacy policy.  If this is the case and you wish to re-use an account, you will have to set up a new one.

You can of course request your personal data to be removed from our systems, by contacting us and letting us know.  We may not be able to delete all your personal data as we might be required to retain some to meet our legal requirements.

Data Sharing

We will only share your personal data with third parties and other companies in the GVS group of companies in order to provide Card delivery or customer contact centre services on our behalf.   We will only share necessary information with these parties to allow them to administer parts of the process. All group companies are obliged to respect the confidentiality of this personal information.

We may also disclose this personal information to third parties under the following circumstances:

  • If GVS, including group companies is acquired by a third party in total, or a substantial amount of its assets, in which case personal data held by us about customers will be one of the transferred assets

  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms and Conditions of our products and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GVS, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Legislation. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to The Data Protection Officer, One4all, PO Box 8942, Malahide, Co Dublin.
